Trent College are celebrating another year of excellent outcomes for pupils on GCSE Results Day. 65% of entries were graded 7-9, while 97% of entries achieved grade 4 or above.
Mr Penty, Head of Trent College, said, “We are proud of every pupil for what they have managed to accomplish in their GCSE courses. This last school year has of course been particularly challenging for them, however their exceedingly strong results are testimony to their ability, resilience, adaptability and hard work.
While the picture nationally has of course seen increases, we do believe that the grades achieved today are an accurate representation of the ability of such a talented year group, who also achieve so much beyond the academic sphere. The results are based on a significant amount of evidence and high-stake assessment over time, and the pupils can celebrate these results which set them up really well for the next stage of their education.
I would also like to emphasise the deep debt of gratitude owed to the teaching staff. They too have had to adapt in so many ways, and the responsibility and scale of the task of arriving at thoroughly evidenced and appropriate grades cannot be underestimated.
I am delighted for the pupils and it is each individual’s hard work and personal achievements that we are celebrating today. My warmest congratulations go to them all. We look forward to welcoming our pupils back to Trent next month when they will begin their studies in Sixth Form.”
