Mr Arrowsmith

Head of Geography

Joined The Elms: 2018

As a Class Teacher, Mr Arrowsmith leads lessons across the core subjects and collaborates with specialist teachers at The Elms to provide a comprehensive learning experience for all children. Prior to his teaching career, Mr Arrowsmith worked in the finance industry. He draws on this experience to bring a unique perspective to teaching, particularly in maths lessons by making complex concepts relatable and engaging for the children.

Mr Arrowsmith’s Background

Since joining The Elms in 2018, Mr Arrowsmith has guided Year 5 and 6 pupils through the final stages of their primary school journey by nurturing their academic and personal growth.  Certified in sports coaching, he instils values of discipline and teamwork both inside and outside the classroom by taking on an active role in supporting the Sports department, by leading Games lessons and attending away fixtures. Mr Arrowsmith’s interest in sport extends into the weekend as a qualified football referee with the FA.

Commitment to Sustainability

Mr Arrowsmith spearheads the Eco Council at The Elms and works closely with elected representatives from each class in Year 3 to 6 to address environmental concerns and champion sustainability initiatives within the school community. Linked to this, is the notable achievement of attaining and maintaining the Eco Green Flag award of which Mr Arrowsmith played a pivotal role. It celebrates and recognises the forward-thinking actions of The Elms and actions of the pupils. One of the core features of the award is the creation of the Eco Garden which Mr Arrowsmith brought to life alongside the Elms Parent Association, Senior Leadership Team and Grounds department. He now has an ongoing role to develop the outdoor space as a vibrant learning environment for the entire school community to enjoy and learn from.

Academic Excellence

Additionally, Mr Arrowsmith’s efforts were recognised with the Geography Quality Mark, awarded by the Geographical Association, highlighting his effectiveness in fostering lively and effective geographical learning experiences.
