SUPPORTED CHARITIES

Trent College has a long and generous tradition in charitable giving. We are proud of the great work and the large amounts raised by pupils, staff and parents.

COMMITMENT TO HELPING OTHERS

The principal charities supported by the schools are Operation Orphan, the Canaan Trust and our Kenya Partnership. Numerous fundraising activities have been organised for these charities and some others that are near to the heart of others in our community. We also support nationally organised charity events such as Children in Need, Sports and Comic Relief.

CHAPEL SERVICES

Chapel services regularly raise awareness of worthy causes and help our pupils become responsible and caring citizens. Of particular note are our Harvest Thanksgiving and Remembrance Services, whilst the retiring collection taken at the Carol Services in December is also donated in aid of our named charities.

KENYAN SCHOOLS INITIATIVE

Trent College has a partnership with two schools in the village of Thika, 30 miles from Nairobi called Gowan Mount View Academy and Nyacaba Primary School. We believe that everyone has a right to education, but unfortunately there are still many who do not get full access to one. The aim of our partnership is to support two schools that are less fortunate than ours and raise funds for necessities such as desks, chairs and more ambitious projects such as a kitchen and concrete flooring in Nyacaba Primary School.

Charity events are many and varied, enabling us to raise over £20,000 each year

In 2018 we began an initiative which saw every student in Year 9 spending time in the Operation Orphan depot, supporting their ‘Keep a Child Warm’ campaign.

One of our major fundraising days is BBC Children in Need, when the boarding community in particular puts a tremendous effort into organising fun events that raise considerable funds.

Each year there are countless cake sales, fun runs, music concerts, car washes, coffee mornings, formal dinners, raffles and themed dress days for dedicated charities.
