Mr Wood

Head of Lower School

Joined Trent College: 2008

As the Head of Lower School, Mr Wood ensures pupils in Year 7 and 8 enjoy and flourish in all aspects of school life. In addition, as a teacher of Physical Education and Games, Mr Wood shares his passion for sport with pupils across all Trent College year groups.

Pupil Champion

With his friendly and approachable personality, Mr Wood is ideally placed to guide Trent’s youngest pupils on their learning journey. To help each pupil unlock their potential, Mr Wood works alongside his colleagues to provide a wide range of opportunities  within the classroom and beyond.

For Mr Wood, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing the confidence of individual pupils develop as they work hard to learn new skills. It is this appreciation of a pupil’s developing talent that frequently leaves him feeling immensely proud – nothing demonstrates this better than seeing Year 11 groups achieve success in their GCSE examinations and go on to become strong young people in various areas of life.

Sporting Successes

With his vast experience of equipping pupils with the skills and mindset required to fulfil their potential and increase participation in sport, Mr Wood coaches the hockey, cricket and tennis teams. With a focus on leading the 1st XI Girls squad for hockey, Mr Wood has supported teams to compete at the highest levels and achieve multiple National Titles.
