GET TO KNOW US
Trent College and The Elms continue to welcome admissions throughout the year. Enquiries and applications can still be made to the Admissions team who will be delighted to talk to you and will continue to demonstrate the skills and passion of our teachers, as they maintain their delivery of a first-class education and support to pupils.
Applying for a place
Once you are ready to apply for a place, applications can be made online. We will also ask to see a recent school report and request a reference from your child’s current school (where relevant) to give us a feel for their passions, interests and how they would access the curriculum at The Elms.
For entry to Reception children will also have the opportunity to experience a number of exciting adult-led activities as well as meeting new friends and enjoying the range of facilities inside and outside the classroom. During their Taster session children will meet with one of our Reception Teachers who will spend time getting to know your child in their new environment.
Reception taster sessions
We offer taster sessions for those children who have registered. This offers them the opportunity to experience a day at The Elms. They will join in with lessons for their year group, enjoy a tasty lunch and where applicable sit their entrance assessment. We will discuss individual options for you as a family.
ASSESSMENTs (Year 1-6)
For entry to Years 1 – 4, children will have the opportunity to chat with one of our Teachers for us to find out more about your child plus this is great chance to ask us about life at The Elms. We do request copies of latest school reports please. For Year 5 and Year 6 entry children will be asked to take our online verbal and non-verbal assessments and this can be facilitated remotely. The assessments taken for Year 5 and Year 6 entry will also determine a reserved place at Trent College at year 7 so children will not be required to sit a further entrance assessment for Senior school.
Year 1 – 6 Taster Days
Once registered, individual taster days are arranged for children to experience a day at The Elms. They will join a class within their current year group and participate in their exciting lessons and enrichment opportunities.
Further to our assessment process, The Elms will take a holistic view of each child’s application, using all the information gathered from the teacher conversation, assessments and school reports to make a final decision on the offer of a place. Mrs Potter or our Admissions Manager will contact you directly with feedback and outcomes.
