Head of Lower School
Mr Wood is Head of Lower School. He is looking forward to meeting the children at Transition Day and welcoming them into Year 7.

Transition Events
Parents’ Information Evening – Thursday 25 June. view presentation here
Transition Day for pupils – Friday 26 June. Pupils should attend in casual clothes and wear trainers. Further details will be shared nearer to the date.
Induction Day – Wednesday 2 September, starting at 8.30am. All Year 7 pupils will be required in school, wearing school uniform. Children will need their school bag (containing pencil case and notebook) and their PE bag (containing full PE kit including tracksuit and trainers). Please note, the school buses will not be running on this day.
First Day of Term
Term starts for all pupils on Thursday 3 September 2026.
Pupils should arrive wearing school uniform and go directly to the Year 7 Base in the Swallow Building for registration at 08.30am. The Trent College campus will be very busy on the first day of term. If traveling by car, please consider dropping your child off on Derby Road or in the May Hall car park (which is on the right hand-side as you come down the school drive).
Boarders will be welcomed into their Boarding House from 8pm on Wednesday 2 September.
Outdoor Education Day
All pupils will have an outdoor activity day near the start of the school year. Pupils will need to wear their Trent College tracksuit and PE top along with trainers/outdoor shoes. We recommend they also bring a change of clothes/shoes in a bag, in case they get wet during any of the challenges.
This event will be followed by a family BBQ on the Trent College campus. Further information will be shared in due course.

Uniform
Our branded uniform items are provided by our partners, Schoolwear Solutions.
A handy checklist is available below but we recommend that you also review full detail on uniform and appearance in the Lower School Handbook.
All branded items are available from Schoolwear Solutions by visiting the onsite School Uniform Shop (near to Chapel) or online via supplier’s website. We highly recommend purchasing any branded uniform items as early as possible to ensure that items arrive before the start of the school term. Some items have a long lead time.
medical & dietary forms
All pupils moving into Year 7 must complete an up-to-date medical form. We ask that you read the School’s Medical Policy and then complete the form using the link below.
If your child has a medically diagnosed food condition or allergy, please also complete our Medical Diets form which we share with our Catering Department. Completed Medical Diets forms should be emailed as an attachment directly to medical.centre@trentcollege.net.
Learning support
It is important for us to know whether your child has ever had an assessment for any type of specific learning difficulty, or any other speech or literacy difficulty. The assessment may have been carried out by a specialist teacher, an educational psychologist or a health professional. If you have not previously provided this information to The Elms School, please send a copy of the report to Learning Support at Trent College.
boarding in year 7
At Trent College, we provide the opportunity to Board with the option for full, weekly or flexi boarding.
Boarding can provide a good routine and structure for your child to maximise their learning time, whilst offering a unique model of support, encouragement, flexibility and integration. Three quarters of our weekly and flexi boarding pupils live within a 45 minute commute of school but choose to board with us to leverage the benefits of boarding.
Instrumental & vocal Lessons
Music is embedded into the life of Trent College. We offer a wide range of opportunities for musicians of all styles and abilities throughout the year.

lamda Lessons
LAMDA (The London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art) aims to improve the standard of communication through the spoken word and performance; empowering individuals by helping to develop their self-confidence and self-esteem; and fostering an appreciation of classic and contemporary literature and drama.
We offer private LAMDA lessons to our pupils as an optional extra, with regular performance and exam opportunities.
Bus Service
The schools currently operate an extensive network of services across the East Midlands, serving Derby and Nottingham, as well as the surrounding rural areas of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire. With over 100 stops on the network, our school bus service is designed to cater for as many parents as possible.
