  • Best Ensemble
  • Best Production
  • Best Actress – Summer
  • Best Supporting Actor – Hugo
  • Best Supporting Actor – Jack

Praise from the National School Theatre Awards

The NSTA praised the production as “a thoughtful and impactful piece of theatre” and “a moving, memorable, and highly accomplished performance.” Particular recognition was given to the “consistently high” standard of performance and the “standout feature” of the ensemble work.

Summer was described as “exceptional”, while Jack’s performance was “haunting and deeply moving.” Hugo brought “authority and presence” to his role, contributing to a powerful principal cast.

Telling an Important Story

The review highlighted how the production balanced humour and poignancy, using “minimal yet highly effective staging” to keep the focus on storytelling. The integration of historical imagery and projections added “depth and poignancy”, reinforcing the realities behind the satire.

Behind the Scenes

Beyond the cast, the technical and backstage teams were instrumental. Lighting, sound, costume, and staging were all praised for their professionalism, helping to create a “visually engaging performance space” and ensuring a seamless production.

A Lasting Impact

The review concluded that the production “not only entertained, but also educated and provoked reflection,” highlighting the maturity and dedication of everyone involved.

This achievement is a testament to the commitment, creativity and expertise of our Drama department, who stage at least three major productions each year and continue to inspire pupils to perform with confidence, skill and passion.
