Following the announcement of our A level results last week, Year 11 pupils at Trent College, Long Eaton, are today celebrating their own academic achievements with the publication of the GCSE results.
• 25% of all GCSE entries are grade 8 or grade 9.
• 41% of all GCSE entries are grade 7 or above.
• 87% of entries achieved grade 4 or above.
Celebrating their outstanding grades today were:
Tanvi Gill has achieved ten grade 9s said ‘I’ve worked so hard to get my grades, I’m really happy. Trent has given me a supportive network and great friends. I’m going on to study History, Economics, Maths and Further Maths at A Level.”

Charlie Gooch has achieved seven grade 9s, three grade 8s and a grade 7 said “I’m relieved. I’ve achieved what I expected but I have worked really hard to get it. The teachers and my tutor have all really helped me and now I am going on to study Physics, Maths and Computer Science at A Level.”

Eduard Holonko achieved six grade 9s, four grade 8s and one grade 7 after arriving in the UK only 3 years ago and speaking very limited English. Eduard said, “I can’t quite believe this, I’m so excited! I have worked very hard, the teachers have all been so good and I have made very good friends that have made this time so special.”

Diya Badge achieved six grade 9s, two grade 8s, and two grade 7s. Diya who is an accomplished cricketer and one of only two girls to play for Trent 1st XI and has been training with The Blaze at Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club, said “I’m really pleased with my results. I have enjoyed every part of Trent, especially cricket, I’m so grateful to Mr Boswell for the opportunities he’s given me.”

Also celebrating excellent results are:
Veer Shergill achieved 10 GCSEs including six grade 9s, three grade 8s, and one grade 7. He said “It’s been a lot of really hard work and dedication, but the teachers have really helped me to achieve this. I am so happy that I’ve done it!”

Tej Pathak achieved eleven GCSEs including five grade 9s, four grade 8s, and two grade 7s. This is in addition to the two grade 9s he achieved in German and Spanish which he took a year early, plus two AS Levels completed early. Tej said, ‘I’m proud of the grades I’ve got and worked very hard for them. The dedication from teachers has really helped me. I’m staying on at Trent to study Chemistry, Biology, Economics and Maths, I’d love to be an Economist.”
“I have a huge passion for reading. For the last 3 years I’ve been volunteering at a local library helping 9 and 10-year-olds read. I believe that it’s a really important skill and passion.’

Tilly Taylor achieved 9 GCSEs including five grade 9s, three grade 8s, one grade 7. Tilly said, “I am really, really happy with these results. I’ve done a lot better than I thought I would, and all the hard work has really paid off. I’ve been here since I was ten years old, it’s been a huge part of my life and I’m looking forward to carrying on into the Sixth Form to pursue my ambition to read Law.”

Millie Ditheridge achieved 9 GCSEs including five grade 9s, three grade 8s, one grade 7. Millie said, “I’ve done better than I expected and I’m so happy! The teachers have really supported me to excel, and the opportunities here have been fantastic”.
Will Cutting achieved 10 GCSEs including six grade 9s, two grade 8s, one grade 7 and one grade 6. Will said, “I’ve done really well and I’m so happy. I prepared for the worst but expected the best and I’ve done it now! I’ve been really well supported, and it’s made a huge difference.”Trent College provides a challenging and rewarding Sixth Form experience, where supportive teachers and flexible boarding options enable pupils to achieve their full potential.

“A quarter of all entries have been achieved at the very highest grades, securing a grade 8 or 9 and 41% of all entries are a grade 7 or above which is 18% above the national average.”
“My warmest congratulations go to all of our pupils, and I thank our dedicated staff who continue to support and encourage our pupils in so many ways. We look forward to welcoming our pupils back to Trent College next month when they will begin their studies in our vibrant Sixth Form.”
