As Head of Year 12, Teacher of Religious Studies and Academic Enrichment Co-ordinator, Mr Butler plays an important role in supporting both the academic and personal development of Trent College students.
Role and Responsibilities
In his role as Head of Year within our Sixth Form, Mr Butler oversees the pastoral care of Year 12 students, leads the tutor team and organises PSHE lessons. Alongside this he provides UCAS guidance, helping students to explore different pathways and prepare for life after school by arranging visits to a range of universities. His approach focuses on putting students first and supporting them and their families during their transitional years.
Passionate About Education
As Academic Enrichment Co-ordinator, Mr Butler works closely with departments to support pupils by organising subject-specific initiatives, including conference trips and guest speakers from a range of academic and professional backgrounds. Along with this Mr Butler teaches Religious Studies across all year groups, from Year 7 to GCSE and A Level, with a personal specialism of Ethics.
Teaching Career Highlights
Highlights of Mr Butler’s career at Trent College include taking students on trips to Rome and Amsterdam, running the Model United Nations General Assembly, inviting local MPs to speak at school events, and celebrating students’ achievements with memorable end of year events, such as trips to Alton Towers. He finds great fulfilment in seeing former students return as Old Tridents, knowing he has helped shape their paths.
