As Head of Physics, Ben Hayton is responsible for maintaining the high standards of Physics teaching in classrooms across the school and ensuring that pupils benefit from an engaging and challenging curriculum.
INDUSTRY EXPERT
Mr Hayton has over a decade of experience in teaching Physics. Prior to qualifying as a teacher, Mr Hayton obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Astronomy & Astrophysics. Mr Hayton is also an exam marker for Edexcel IGCSE Physics, meaning his pupils benefit from having an examiner’s perspective on what is required to achieve the best possible exam results.
INVOLVEMENT IN SCHOOL LIFE
Mr Hayton is heavily involved in the school community. In addition to his responsibilities as Head of Department, he manages the school’s Combined Cadet Force and is a trained High Ropes instructor. As a Main School tutor, he provides students with the guidance and pastoral support they need to excel in their education.
HIGHLIGHTS AT TRENT
Mr Hayton’s highlights during his time at Trent so far include accompanying DofE students on their Bronze Expeditions and taking A Level Physics students to see the world-famous Large Hadron Collider at CERN in Geneva.
Beyond his passion for Physics, Mr Hayton enjoys travelling the world and has visited 53 different countries to date.
