Helping pupils to go further

“My department gives pupils the freedom to express themselves and explore new techniques in a safe, open environment.”

Mrs Ward

Director of Drama

Joined Trent College: 2013

Mrs Ward brings a wealth of industry experience and knowledge to her role as Director of Drama. The department is responsible for ensuring Trent College inspires the creative minds of pupils of all ages through their lessons and additional co-curricular activities.

Industry Expert

There is no-one better placed to support Trent College’s aspiring Drama Scholars than Mrs Ward, having re-shaped the Scholar programme to align with her personal experience of what it takes to break into the industry and succeed in an acting career. Because of this vast experience, Mrs Ward is able to support pupils from across the year groups in learning and developing the skills they need to go further in the competitive world of performing arts.

When pupils perform alongside Mrs Ward in workshops, it is clear for them to see how she achieved a vast array of awards and accolades including; Nominee for Best Actress / Best Newcomer at The British Soap Award; Nominee Best Daytime Star at Inside Soap Award and Nominee for Best Actress Royal Television Society Awards.

Many will recognise their teacher from a range of well-known television shows, including a regular role on BBC Doctors as Michelle Corrigan and ITV’s Coronation Street’s PC Jess Heywood – to name just a few! But Mrs Ward’s experience is not limited to television series, she also has various theatre productions and radio adverts under her belt.

Leading the Trent College Drama Provision

There is not a “typical” day at Trent College for Mrs Ward – the day can be as varied as her lessons. To create such an energetic and vibrant atmosphere in the department, Mrs Ward leads a team of teaching staff and technicians who work together to deliver a first-class education. To complement the on-site teaching, external companies including industry leaders, local Drama groups and theatres are also regularly sourced to deliver specialised workshops.

Next Level Productions

The numerous crowd-pleasing productions that take place each academic year are always a highlight for Mrs Ward as she sees the hard work and dedication of her students pay off. Recent favourites include the challenging scripts of; A Christmas Carol (Whole School Production), The Crucible (Drama Scholar Production) and Alice in Wonderland (Lower School Production).
