The Elms pupils experience a range of sports and develop a mix of skills from the start of the school journey to Year 6. Our extra-curricular programme introduces pupils to new sporting activities beyond the curriculum.

values driven programme

The attitude demonstrated on the sports pitch aligns with the values of The Elms. Pupils are shaped by developing a sense of respect and appreciation,  honesty in the choices made, effort in all they do and a commitment to team work. This is underpinned by the ability to show the courage to do the right thing, at the right time for the right reasons.

Our Philosophy

PreparATION

At The Elms we equip every child with the confidence and enthusiasm to enjoy sport. During their lessons, pupils are introduced to a broad variety of sports in order to develop strong sporting foundations through a wide skill base.

Participation

Lessons and coaching sessions are designed to maximise pupil enjoyment, develop movement literacy and introduce the ‘FUNdamentals’  stage of the recognised model of Long Term Athletic Development.

Progression

Across all sports we find opportunities for skill development, increased participation and increasingly competitive situations. Pupils are encouraged to make decisions, grow their knowledge and identify how they can improve.
