Helping pupils to go further
“During Dance and Drama lessons, I empower even the shyest of pupils to leave their self-consciousness at the door and venture beyond their comfort zone so that they can enjoy the freedom the subject offers.”
Mr Mundy
Subject Leader for Dance and Drama
Joined The Elms: 2016
Mr Mundy is the inspiring Subject Leader for Dance and Drama at The Elms and works with all pupils from all year groups to explore their imaginations through creativity and self-expression.
LIGHTS. CAMERA. ACTION
Mr Mundy is responsible for directing and producing the shows for each year group, all of which have been a delight for him to work on. Mr Mundy especially enjoys seeing the children’s hard work come together during performances to their families. A particular highlight was the 2019 Year 5 production of Shakespeare and Scones, which Mr Mundy designed, scripted and executed. Another fond memory is the Year 6 show of Aladdin during his first year working at The Elms.
PASSION FOR THE ARTS
Mr Mundy achieved a BA in Drama, Applied Theatre and Education from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama prior to completing his Primary PGCE teaching qualification.
Mr Mundy’s classroom teaching experience is supplemented by his work at youth theatres across the country including RCSSD’s Saturday Schools, MAHDLO, Footlights Theatre School and the Oldham Theatre Workshop. Having been personally been involved in youth theatre since the age of 8 years old, Mr Mundy has a strong connection with the industry and is passionate about helping children to shine and develop. As the Arts Award Advisor for The Elms, Mr Mundy runs and assesses the Arts Award Discover for Year 3 pupils and the Arts Award Explore for Year 5.
SCHOOL COMMUNITY
When Mr Mundy isn’t in the Dance and Drama studio at The Elms, he can be found in classrooms across the school as a class cover teacher. After school, Mr Mundy participates in running co-curricular clubs of which baking is a personal favourite!
