“Dorothy has always been a little shy and I was worried about the transition into Reception for her. I can honestly say I couldn’t have hoped for a better start. The welcome afternoon tea was a lovely way to chat to teachers / teaching assistants and other parents.
Aside from the education she is gaining, one of the most important things for me is that Dorothy is looked after from an emotional perspective. When I drop Dorothy off in the morning I feel like I’m dropping her off with extended family members. Both Miss Brock and Miss Woodward have such a caring nature and I know if Dorothy needs a cuddle during the day she will get one and when you’re leaving your child with someone else 5 days a week that’s so important.
Dorothy has gained so much confidence in only a matter of months since being in reception. She comes home full of stories of what she’s been up to all day. The Gruffallo was a favourite and of course the big event that was Hugo (the class hamster) going missing!
Miss Brock is absolutely incredible. I had the pleasure of spending the day with Reception on a school trip and Miss Brock was just amazing with the children. Constantly engaged with them, reassuring, kind, knowledgeable and most of all fun! She has 17 children to look after and when you speak to her you feel like she knows your child inside out which is a pretty incredible thing.
I would absolutely recommend The Elms. The diverse range of learning and equipment available as well as the access to specialised teachers is a huge plus. You really feel that your child is valued and appreciated for being their self. If you’re looking for a school that feels like home then The Elms is the place.”
