Helping pupils to go further

“I ensure that every pupil has a positive experience and fulfils their sporting potential during their time at The Elms.”

mrs Penty

Director of Sport

Joined The Elms : 2018

The position of Director of Sport at The Elms is held by Mrs Penty, who overseas and teaches the sports curriculum with passion and energy.

Opportunities for all pupils

Mrs Penty and her team of dedicated teachers strive to provide all pupils with enjoyable sporting experiences in order to foster a love of physical exercise and an interest in a whole range of disciplines. With the curriculum and extra-curricular programme continually being developed, pupils are inspired and excited by new opportunities to maintain an active lifestyle. Similarly, Mrs Penty works closely with the Sports department at Trent College to provide lessons with specialist coaches.

Inspiring the next generation

Mrs Penty is a motivating role model to pupils as she regularly participates in physical challenges, such as canoeing the River Wye and cycling the infamous Devon Coast to Coast route. In addition, Mrs Penty is an avid hockey player.

To support the development of skills and key character strengths, Mrs Penty has organised a range of events and challenges for pupils to participate in. During the Covid 19 lockdown there was a fantastic response to her online Lands’ End to John O Groats challenge. Meanwhile on the school site, Fast and Furious year group festivals and themed whole school sports events have been a fantastic way to generate friendly competitive spirit.
