
As Head of Modern Foreign Languages, Mr Kelly oversees the languages department consisting of French, German and Spanish.
Encouraging further learning
Creating an inspiring learning environment, the department as a collective has an extensive range of language knowledge. Including Russian, Japanese and Italian speakers, the students are encouraged to further explore and expand their learning of languages.
Mr Kelly takes pride in the principle that his department are always ready to offer guidance and to help highlight the importance of language learning. A vital transferrable skill in understanding other cultures and the world around us.
Experience beyond teaching
With a combined honours degree in German and Japanese from Newcastle University including studying at Fukuoka University in Japan, Mr Kelly brings a wealth of knowledge to Trent College. Before teaching, he held a bilingual post at Emirates Airlines working in both German and English. Since joining Trent College, Mr Kelly has taken on multiple roles, including Head of Year within lower school and Shuker Housemaster along with running the Trent pride youth network.
International network of students
Mr Kelly works closely with our international boarders to help other pupils to authentically experience and learn about their cultures. For example, our Chilean students shared a presentation about Chilean Independence and pupils have taken part in language exchanges swapping languages every half an hour.
In his spare time Mr Kelly likes to engage in foreign cinema, 5k runs and exploring new places.
