Trent Schools

February 19, 2020

Reaching the top 3% of independent schools in the country for Sport is testament to the pursuit of excellence delivered by the Sports department, who ensure opportunities are available for everyone; from novices to high performance athletes.

The award is based on the analysis of 18 different sports and specific national competitions – with more weighting given to success in a range of sports rather than a single sport, as well as competitions with more teams competing. At Trent College, pupils enjoy a vast array of sports as part of the well-rounded sporting programme, with competition entries based upon identifying the right opportunity for each team or individual.

national achievements of 2019:

  • U18 indoor girls’ hockey – 1st in England
  • U15 cricket squad (T40) – 2nd in England
  • U15 cricket squad (T20) – Joint 3rd in England
  • U18 girls’ hockey – 4th in England
  • U13 boys’ tennis – 4th in England

Richard Mahony, Director of Sport, was delighted with the announcement sharing, “It is wonderful to receive independent recognition for our commitment to sport and increasing participation across all age groups and abilities. Last year saw 450 pupils representing the school in a range of sports. It is through the joy of participation that our reputation for regional and national success thrives.”

Our upcoming Open Morning on Saturday 7th March provides the ideal opportunity to find out more about our first-class education as well as the sporting opportunities available. Booking is available online or by contacting our Admissions department on 0115 849 4950.
